  5. Empowering Youth and Women:
Unfortunately most of our youth and women are unemployed. SPYM is trying to empower them through literacy, education and vocational training, particularly in the areas of health and promotion of basic human rights.

  6. Environment Related:
The ecological balance is being disturbed due to the haphazard growth of habitation and indiscriminate cutting of trees and forests. SPYM has various environment related activities. Its awareness programmes include protection, maintenance and improvement of our environment. SPYM encourages people in general and children in particular to plant saplings in and around their vicinity and to create awareness for environment friendly activities.

  7. Population Related:
SPYM is active in the area of population control through its population education programmes. The increasing population of India is becoming the stumbling block to its progress and prosperity. There is an urgent need to check the rising population through awareness and educational programmes. SPYM in its population related activities is trying to reach the poor and weaker sections mainly, because they lack information about the benefits of a small family.

  8. Transfer of technology:
SPYM brings technological upgradation to the needy people and also contributes financially, to the extent possible, from its resources. The idea is to make rural youth aware of the latest technological breakthrough in their respective areas.

  9. Vocational Training:
SPYM has started training programmes like shorthand and typing, repairing of electronic goods (like, T.V., radio, washing machine, cooler, fan, gadgets of domestic use )for the educated unemployed youth in urban as well as rural areas.

For the rural unemployed youth, training is provided in block and screen printing, motor vehicle, rural craftsmanship and jewellery making. It is running training programmes for women in tailoring, stitching, embroidery,  weaving and knitting, handicrafts, horticulture, bee keeping etc.

  10. Research:
SPYM is also involved in research related to HIV/AIDS. This is more social in nature and includes attitude, values and belief of society towards  HIV/AIDS. This research helps in understanding the problem in its psychological perspective.

  11. Documentation and library:
SPYM has an established documentation and library unit, which not only helps their own  research unit, but also many research scholars and institutions have availed these library facilities.

  12. Human Rights:
There is a gross violation of internationally recognized norms, which continue, unabated in almost all parts of the world including India. The right to life, freedom of expression, inhuman treatment, torture and detention of innocent people on various grounds etc. is becoming the reality of today's world.

Human rights are at center stage today the world over and India's failings have been highlighted at international forums as well as at the national level by various human rights organisations and activists. SPYM has been doing it's part by raising Human Rights issues at various forums.

  13. Advocacy:
At the national level, SPYM is advocating human rights through meetings and seminars, motivating members of parliament, policy makers and functionaries of government and mobilizing the support of other non-governmental organisations. At the international level SPYM has been playing significant role for the protection of human rights at the Human Rights Commission in Switzerland in Geneva since last several years.
