Since our inception in 1983, we can proudly look back and feel pleased with our modest     accomplishments. We are thankful to those who have recognized our work and encourage
us to move on and work towards the upliftment of masses.

We fully understand that we can't rely on our past accomplishments and laurels, as a tremendous amount of work needs yet to be done at the grass root level.

While we appreciate the accomplishments listed below, what really motivates and inspires us each day is the knowledge that through our efforts someone's life is going to be touched positively and that inner satisfaction can't be replaced by any other form of reward. We firmly believe that it is this internal satisfaction that is driving us to work against all odds.

Some Of our Major Achievements

  1. SPYM believes in community mobilization and community participation. It, therefore, launched a massive signature campaign in 1985-86 for lobbying with the Government to strengthen legislation for drug trafficking and drug abuse effectively. This received positive attention, in the much needed area of drug abuse prevention, for relevant policy formulation from the concerned authorities .

  2. At international level in UN and commonwealth forums, SPYM has also raised questions and concerns on human rights issues. It has been a great honor for SPYM that its, Chairperson, Dr. Zeenat has had opportunity to personally address the UN Human Rights Commission at Geneva on a number of occasions about these issues.

  3. Dr. Zeenat was elected in 1991 as the first Asian representative to the Commonwealth Youth Caucus, which plays a very important role in designing 'the youth and women policy' for commonwealth member countries at the global level.

  4. In 1992 Youth Ministers as well as youth caucus meeting was convened in Maldives by Pan-Commonwealth Secretariat, London, in which participants from Commonwealth countries elected Dr. Zeenat as a member of the Management Committee, which is the highest decision making body of Commonwealth Secretariat, London, for Youth and Women Programs.

  5. In 1989 Dr. Rajesh Kumar Founder and National Executive Director of SPYM was honored by the nation when a National Youth Award was conferred to him by the Prime Minister of India for his significant contributions towards the health and welfare of the youth in India.

  6. SPYM was also the only elected Asian Organization in the steering committee of United Nations world NGO congress held in Bangkok, Thailand in December1994.
